Web Design, Graphics and Desktop Publishing
This SIG will explore both web design as well graphcs and DTP. Adobe software such as Dreamweaver, InDesign and PhotoShop are the main tools used. However, occasionally we'll also look into alternative applications by Microsoft.

van Ommeren, 914-232-0149. Meets
on the 3rd Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the DACS
Resource Center.

Next meeting September 21st.
At the July meeting we looked at styling CSS for alternate output devices. As more people view sites on cell phones, the page structure and CSS styling should be adjusted and tweaked to fit a small screen. Within the Dreamweaver interface, the "Style rendering" panel options helps preview the chosen media. In addition, the Adobe "Device Central" software will download and display multiple phone brands and demo how their screens will render a page.
Each media has their own seperate CSS style sheet, and these are linked to in the HTML pages. Styling for print output was also discussed.
A useful free tool is the Opera Mobile emulator, a desktop based application which provides a preview of how cell phones will render a page.
Meetings in the near future will continue to keep Drupal in mind (as we adapt the DACS site) however, other web related techniques and subjects won't be ignored.
